Preventative Remote Controlled Avalanche Triggering System
AVALHEX - AVALauncher Hydrogen EXplosive
Remotely controlled by radio link, AVALHEX is designed to permanently protect avalanche paths, using a gas mixture
of "hydrogen-air" as a substitute to conventional explosives.

The AVALHEX is a modular, remote controlled avalanche triggering system that is
always ready to use to ptotect avalanche paths, using a gas mixture of "hydrogen-air" as a substitute to conventional explosives.
A mixture of explosive gas is formed inside an inflatable chamber (balloon) that is deployed above the exploder during the firing sequence.
The explosion of gas mixture produces an effect indentical of an
explosion charge fired between 2 or 3 meters above the snow. It
acts the same way as a dynamite charge set off by a carrier cable.
By means of a "venturi" which mixes the two gases in the necessary proportions, we obtain the maximum release of energy.
The gas mixture consists of 32.5% hydrogen and 67.5% oxygen.

By using an infaltable, flexible structure in which the explosion is separated from the mechanical structure of
the exploder, the user can vary the volume of explosive gas mixture depending on which he prefers:
"Short" detonation (3 cubic meters of gas mixture)
"Long" detonation (4 cubic meters of gas mixture)
The energy released can thus be adapted to snow and weather conditions.

| Full scale test and measurement of the blast (an over pressure of 20-30 mb is enough to trigger
an avalanche). |
